Selena Gomez' stepdad Brian Teefey thought of a way to help the bereaved family of the slain singer Christina Grimmie. On June 11, he decided to create a GoFundMe page to raise money, and in the span of just three days, the campaign already gathered more than $149,000.

Teefey wrote on GoFundMe, "In Christina's honor I have created this page to assist her family in their time of need." He further explained that since Grimmie's whole family only supported the singer throughout her musical journey, he just want them to recover from the tragedy at this point.

Adam Levine, Grimmie's coach on "The Voice," also stepped in and offered to shoulder the singer's funeral expenses. With the outpouring of support from friends and family, Marcus Grimmie, thanked everyone for providing help so they can move out from their current home as well as assist them with his sister's funeral.

Christina was a YouTube sensation and her popularity soared even more after placing third on NBC's "The Voice" in 2014. She died a few hours after sustaining three gunshot wounds, including one in the head. Millions of people worldwide were shocked after learning about her sudden demise and fans took to social media to express sadness as well as to condemn the killer.

On the day of the shooting, the popular singer was at The Plaza Live Theater in Orlando to open the show for the pop-rock group called Before You Exit. She had an autograph signing event after the show and the gunman queued along with the fans. When it was his turn, he immediately opened fire and Christina fell to the ground.

"She was doing a meet-and-greet, just signing autographs and selling merchandise. This white male approached her and opened fire, striking her," Time quoted the Orlando Police Chief John Mina as saying at a news conference.

The killer, Kevin Loibl, also died on the spot when he shot himself after being tackled by Marcus. Police stated that his quick action may have actually saved lives because Loibl could have also decided to shoot randomly at the crowd after hitting his target.
