Jaime and Cersei Lannister are seen together in the recently released pics of "Game Of Thrones

Ahead of the penultimate "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Episode 9 titled "Battle of the Bastards" and the season finale "The Winds of Winter" or Episode 10, rumors came out that among the major character deaths would be the tragedy-prone King Tommen and the Queen Mother, Cersei Lannister, would maneuver to sit next on the Iron Throne.

Tommen's demise would serve as the fulfilment of the prophesy first served to the young Cersei - that she is destined to outlive her offspring. But not mentioned was the likelihood of the cunning queen getting a clear shot at Westeros' top seat. And there is no need for her to send Ser Robert aka The Mountain to crush more head to claim the crown. No need too for Cersei to deal with Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow - two candidates to rule the Seven Kingdoms because of the blood running in their veins.

But it's the same case with the widow of King Robert Baratheon. MTV reported that Cersei is in line to rule in King's Landing on the account of her Baratheon blood. From generations ago, a Baratheon lady married a Lannister patriarch and that would mean that a line of the family thereafter carries a mix of Baratheon and Lannister seeds. The current Lannisters bear the mark, the report said, citing a Redditor's research on the Baratheon family tree.

Cersei would beat her brothers, Jaime and Tyrion, to the race as both are tangled with issues that bar their paths to the higher royalty but the Queen will need to clear the way of serious hurdles first. Certainly blocking such an ambition is the High Sparrow.

In the partial synopses obtained by GoT fan site WinterIsComing.net, the Episode 10 teaser read: "Cersei faces trial," which suggests that the High Sparrow somehow succeeded in forcing Tommen's mother to stand trial. The information, according to the blog report, was sourced from the documents filed by HBO before the Emmys. Game of Thrones is again among the nominees and the show producer submitted episodes nine and ten for consideration, and as expected the submission included brief descriptions.

For The Winds of Winter, HBO practically confirmed that Cersei will need to prove her innocence of the crimes she is accused with. As for the Bastard Bowl or Battle of the Bastards, the episode synopsis read: "Terms of surrender are rejected and accepted." One thing was clear, Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton will duke it out but who wins and dies remain to be seen.

Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 9 will air the night of June 19 and seven days after, GoT's season finale will follow. HBO said the Episode 10 June 26 broadcast will be the longest of the show, clocking at just under 70 minutes.
