The global smartphone market share of the Chinese tech giant Huawei has taken an 8.5 percent leap, thanks to the success of the company's recently released handsets - P9 and P9 Plus. According to the company, the global shipments of these two handsets have crossed 2.6 million just within the first six weeks of their launch.

Compared to the sales of other flagship smartphones of Huawei, the average sales of the P9 are already 130 percent higher the Huawei P8. In France and the United Kingdom, the P9 sales are 1,000 percent and 300 percent higher respectively compared to the P8. Similarly in Poland and Finland, the P9 sales are 400 percent higher compared to the P8, analyst firm IDC reported.

Recently, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO, Richard Yu, claimed that the company is dedicated to developing premium devices that showcase their commitment to flawless design and technological innovation. Yu said that these premium handsets are preferred by the fans, as they want to use the most up-to-date as well as innovative smartphone technology, ZDNet reported.

According to him, the appeal of their smartphones is universal, as people have been queuing up to purchase Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal last week, Yu said that his company desires to become the most favored smart device manufacturer worldwide within five years. Currently, the company claims to be ranked third in the global smartphone market.

Huawei recorded an FY15 net profit of $5.7 billion, a 33 percent year-on-year rise, on revenue of $60.8 billion worldwide, mainly due to the company's consumer business. The Chinese tech giant claimed that it shipped 28.3 million units globally during the first quarter of 2016, a leap of 64 percent from the number shipped in the corresponding period in 2015.

In terms of features, the Huawei P9 sports a 5.2-inch FHD screen, a 64-bit Huawei Kirin 955 display, and is powered by an octa-core processor. The handset is available in 3GB of RAM and 4GB of RAM versions. It boasts a dual 12-megapizel rear-facing camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and houses a 3,000mAh battery and runs Android 6.0.
