“Batman: Return to Arkham” remaster collection will be out on July 29 and will be available for PS4 and Xbox One.

Rocksteady announced that they will be using the Unreal Engine 4 for the Batman Arkham VR game for the PlayStation VR which will launch on October.

One of the highlights of Sony's PlayStation VR presentation was the Batman Arkham VR title among others. It would be a spin-off of Rocksteady's trilogy of the Batman Arkham franchise that became popular among PC and console gamers.

Since it would not be a sequel to their previous games, it is unclear yet on what Batman will be doing in the VR realm. The fast-paced action of the third-person games could also be a problem for VR headsets which could cause nausea.

Nevertheless, the new game for the PlayStation VR still turned some heads and garnered some attention. Rocksteady said that Batman Arkham VR will be their first game in the Unreal Engine 4, Develop has learned.

The previous games were made using a heavily modified version of the Unreal Engine 3. Most games from the previous generation were made in the said engine because of its versatility with regards to how it can suit many genres and graphics styles for both the console and the PC.

One caveat is that the Batman Arkham VR demo from the Sony E3 2016 conference showed that it is an entirely different game from what players have been used to in the franchise, The Verge reported. There were not much action scenes and it was mostly a linear experience rather than a game itself.

Players were able to investigate a crime scene in the eyes of the caped crusader just like in the previous games. However, it was made harder as players had to manually scan the scene for evidence.

The PlayStation Move controller is also used to use Batman's tools that are placed in his utility belt. Players needed to manually take them off the belt in order to use it on the crime scene.

Batman Arkham VR will be available for the PlayStation VR that requires the PlayStation 4 or the PlayStation NEO. The release date of the Unreal Engine 4 game has not been revealed yet but it could be about the same time as the PSVR's launch in October.
