To remember and commemorate her young life, "The Voice" finalist Christina Grimmie's family has released a memorial video which has been posted on her social media accounts a day after her funeral service last Friday (June 17). The memorial service was held at the Fellowship Alliance Chapel near her hometown in New Jersey.
The video has paid tribute to Christina's career which first begun as a YouTube sensation who sang covers of popular songs until she became one of the finalists in sixth season of the "The Voice". The talented songwriter had a strong following with almost 3 million YouTube subscribers.
During the memorial service, her aunt, cousins and best friends had shared their stories and fondest memories of Christina growing up.
Since her unexpected death last June 10, Christina's family has received outpouring and unwavering support from fans and friends including celebrities and YouTube stars.
Hollywood celebrities like Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Adam Lambert and YouTube star Tyler Oakley have expressed their grief and condolences online. In addition, "The Voice" coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have also shared to their Twitter followers how saddened and heartbroken they were.
Levine, Maroon 5 vocalist and Christina's mentor in "The Voice", extended assistance to her family and paid for the funeral. Singers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez also remembered her during their performances last week. Moreover, Gomez's stepdad had setup GoFundMe campaign and was able to raise money to help her Christina's family.
Her brother Marcus, had told mourners how Christina has affected his family, friends and anyone through her music. He also gave his gratitude to everyone who has attended and comforted their family especially his parents during trying time.
Christina died a few hours after she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition due to complications in her gunshot wounds. According to a report from CNN, Orlando police had identified Kevin James Loibl, 27, of St. Petersburg, Florida the shooter who caused her death. Her shooter committed suicide after her brother tackled him. Possible motive of Loibl's attack remains unknown.
The 22-year-old singer and songwriter was shot point blank during a fan meeting and autograph signing after her concert in The Plaza Live, Orlando. E! News learned that rumors about Christina with her arms open when the gunman came were true and that this was how she treated anyone she knew, according to Marcus.
