Song Hye Kyo's New York Condo Unit

In April, Song Joong-ki’s "S" Villa at Bangbae-dong in Seoul was featured in Woman Sense, a monthly magazine. In the Monday episode of tvN’s “The List 2016,” it was the turn of Song Hye Kyo’s New York flat to be featured.

Soompi reported that the “Descendants of the Sun” actress is ninth on the list of stars who are successful in their real estate investments overseas. Her luxury condo with a view of Central Park is valued at about 1 billion won ($867,050) which she purchased eight years ago.

She bought it in 2009 because she filmed in the U.S. “Make Yourself At Home,” an indie movie. If she were to rent the condo unit, Song Hye Kyo would earn about 7.7 million won ($6,675) monthly from the lease.

Celebrities investing in nice homes, whether in their homeland or abroad, is not surprising because they know how fickle life in show business is. An actor with so many movies or TV shows now may have no offer in a few years, and these real estate properties are a fallback position for many of them.

However, if the celebrities with nice houses are the current media darling and the subject of so many speculations if they are in a romantic relationship, expect rumors to keep on growing. With the tvN feature, FX News Call asked if Song Hye Kyo is preparing for marriage following reports that she also recently purchased a $7-million house in Seoul in Hyundai Residential – also known as the Beverly Hills of Seoul – where her current home is.

She bought the house and had it titled in her mother’s name. Her ability to buy several multimillion properties is not surprising because of her earning capacity. Song Hye Kyo’s stint at “That Winter, The Wind Blows,” earned her about $41,000 per episode.

There is no question that Song Joong-ki could already afford to settle down since he has the potential now to earn $53 million with his film commitments and endorsements. However, the question in the minds of many of his fans is will the 30-year-old Hallyu star pursue Song Hye Kyo or keep on making them guess what’s the real score between them by being extra sweet to her in public, yet calling her an “elder sister” in fan meets.
