The documentary-film aspirations of the prominent Chinese video-streaming site iQiyi have already paid off, as the company's production, "Business Ideas in China," which is also China's first commercial documentary, was selected as a collection item by the China Advertisement Museum on Feb. 10, 2015.
Directed by He Xinhao, the documentary production explores the evolution of business in China through the experiences of key players that remain prominent in the nation's economy.
He identified companies such as Lenovo, Huawei and Xiaomi for the film project, as they were significant examples of Chinese enterprises that were making an impact on the way that Chinese products were being perceived.
Throughout the filming process, the director sought to capture authentic stories that detailed the rise of entrepreneurial names that he found impressive because of the lessons they were learning from international brands. Such learning included the revision of the notion of the well-worn cliché, "made in China."
He's work resonated with the Beijing-based China Advertisement Museum, and Ding Junjie, the museum's director, explained that the iQiyi documentary was chosen because of its successful portrayal of the manner in which businesses have grown and developed within the economic and political environments of China.
The online video company is looking to build upon the attention that has been paid to the documentary, as the marketing director for iQiyi said that the company's plan for "Business Ideas in China" includes a tour of Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Cannes Advertising Festival in France.
iQiyi's online video platform consists of fully licensed and professionally produced content that includes feature films, television dramas, children's entertainment and travel programs.
