The atmosphere felt like it was the Oscars as NBC celebrated an epic 3 and a half hour "Saturday Night Live's 4oth Anniversary" special. For A-list celebrities, however, the special served as a prelude to the highly anticipated "SNL 40" after-party that found Paul McCartney filling in the bandleader duties for the likes of Jimmy Fallon, Dan Aykroyd, Prince, and Taylor Swift.

Soon after the television special, Huffington Post reported that guests and celebrities left 30 Rock and flocked the New York City's Plaza Hotel for the after party that lasted until 4 a.m.

With McCartney at the helm, the party was definitely one of the finest moments that music celebrities can only dream of.

Taylor Swift was among the privileged few to grace the stage with one of the last remaining members of The Beatles. The pop sensation made music history when she shared the stage with McCartney to sing one of her popular songs "Shake it off".

The beautiful blonde pop star also joined McCartney along with other stars as they rocked out one of Beatles' famous pop tunes "I saw her standing there" to the delight of the star-studded crowd.

Taylor showcased a bit of her guitar playing skills while McCartney handled the bass duties as they sang in well blended harmony.

"SNL's" main host, Jimmy Fallon, also joined the fun on stage entertaining the audience with his usual antics as he sang along with Taylor and the rest of the stars, the Daily Mail reported.

Swift and McCartney are among the famous personalities that had featured roles in "SNL's 40th Anniversary special".
