A recent photo leak suggests that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5s will be featuring a dual lens camera. The next iteration is also reported to be launched by the Chinese manufacturer this coming August.
The device has been reported to sport several features like a pressure-sensitive display similar to Apple's 3D Touch, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a curved screen and a body made of glass. It is also expected to feature a Snapdragon 820 processor which may boost the performance of the next generation smartphone, Gizmo China reported.
With the upcoming feature of a pressure-sensitive display, this may mean that the Xiaomi MIUI software will be modified to include extra 3D touch features with extra shortcuts and menus. Though some may think the 3D touch functionality will be available in other third-party apps, it may not be possible as of this moment as Xiaomi smartphones are being run by Android OS.
Other specifications for the Mi 5s also surfaced, which includes a 5.15-inch full HD display with 1080p resolution and a 6 GB RAM, My Driver reported. Aside from the Mi 5s, Xiaomi is also rumored to be working on another smartphone which is the Xiaomi Note 2. The said smartphone is expected to come in three variants which includes a standard, high-end and top-of-the-line variant.
In line with the news of a dual camera feature, there have been previous reports that Samsung may be supplying dual cameras to Xiaomi and LeEco. The said Chinese manufacturers will be launching the dual camera devices in the second half of 2016.
Aside from Xiaomi and LeEco, other Chinese manufacturers like Oppo and Huawei may already be in the works of acquiring dual lens camera units for their future phones. With this possible scenario, it may not be long before the next iteration of smartphones will be having dual cameras.
Despite all these rumors, no confirmation has been made by Xiaomi yet. Anticipating fans are advised to take this information with a grain of salt.
