"Kingdom Hearts 3" protagonist Sora and his friends fight against several enemies called the Heartless.

The important details of upcoming video game "Kingdom Hearts 3" have been revealed by game director Tetsuya Nomura. Co-director Tai Yasue also revealed that the game will not feature "Final Fantasy" worlds.

Nomura told Famitsu in an interview at E3 2016 about some important details related to the video game, and also discussed other games as well. The game will allow players to explore different areas of the game, and they would have to get high up to figure out the map first before proceeding. This will be a necessary step for players to follow so that they will not get lost in the area.

The game director also discussed about the PlayStation 4 collection called "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," which is a prequel of the upcoming video game. The PlayStation 4 collection will contain three games, which are "Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep 0.2 -A Fragmentary Passage-," "Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD," and "Kingdom Hearts X: Back Cover." He also revealed that the games can be altered easily thanks to the game engine they are using, which was Unreal Engine 4.

Nomura also revealed that Square Enix will be releasing the upcoming video game on April 2017. He confirmed that it may get a slightly earlier launch in Japan than the rest of the world.

Yasue revealed in a statement obtained by Gamespot that the protagonist Sora and his friends will be visiting different worlds based on Disney franchises, but worlds from the Final Fantasy series will be excluded. They will be using original worlds like Hollow Bastion and Traverse Town that had Final Fantasy characters in them.

The worlds that they include in the video games were chosen based on the gameplay ideas they wanted to implement, said the co-director. The game developers also wanted to try to see which world from the Disney franchise best fits the style of gameplay. He added that they wanted the difference and variety that the franchise offered, and they do not want a lot of the same elements that the Final Fantasy franchise already has.
