While fans are waiting for the return of "Attack on Titan" Season 2, another news related to the anime and manga series is revealed wherein a game titled "Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom" will be released.
The game covers the first season of the anime and will begin at the camp wherein the players will leave the area for the battlefield. After winning a battle, they would return to the camp and will head out to the next battle. While at the camp, players can converse with other characters and upgrade their equipments using rewards.
Said game is a collaboration between Koei Tecmo and Omega Force which will be based on the anime series. Players will be able to make way through the city and approach titans using the 3D maneuvering equipment. One would choose a certain part of the titan's body to attack and would automatically move towards it. Apparently, one has to attack the nape in order to totally kill the titan.
"Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom" producer Hisashi Koinuma said that it was challenging for the development team to give freedom to the players as they move around using the omni-directional mobility gear. They also found it challenging to create the battle system when playing as a Titan and in integrating the tactical elements like replenishing items and commanding allies.
Aside from flying around and taking down titans, a gamer can also play as a titan with the ability to blast through buildings, slam fists into smaller titans, take out smaller titans all at once and do other devastating moves.
"We have replicated Attack on Titan in game form from the visuals to the game system. Not only can gamers relive the anime’s story and battles through stunning graphics, but there are Titans and major battles that have yet to appear in the anime. And gamers can experience a new kind of game play through the omni-directional mobility gear," Koinuma said in an interview with The Otaku's Study.
Japanese players have been fortunate to play said game first since it was released in the area in February. After the positive reception of the gamers in Japan with praises on the usage of the omni-directional mobility gear, the game will also be released in Europe on August 26 and in the US on August 30, Forbes reported.
"Attack on Titan" Wings of Freedom will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and PC.
