Torrent 2016 news, update: BitTorrent named upcoming news channel; BitTorrent News’ live video service to run peer-to-peer system, to cater 13 other channels?

BitTorrent seems to be taking a different approach for its audiences as it announces that it will be launching a new live-streaming TV news network on July 18.

Pirates know BitTorrent as one of the most popular torrent apps in the Internet and it is peculiar that they are starting their new BitTorrent News TV network at the Republican National Convention in Ohio. They will be led by news director Harrison Bohrman who is a former producer from Viceland.

Bohrman was also a writer and producer at CNN which adds to his credibility and skills in the news industry. BitTorrent News TV network will also include several producers and news reporters from the now defunct Al Jazeera America, Fortune has learned.

News producer Rita Chan, reporter James Reinl and chief political correspondent Michael Shure will also be joining the new BitTorrent News TV network. The list could still grow with the company if the reception is well enough from the audiences.

BitTorrent Vice President for Media Erik Schwartz said that TV news has problems connecting with the current generation which is more familiar with the Internet than with the television. He adds that BitTorrent TV news will be using "superior data and tools" to adjust to their audience's needs.

The new TV network from BitTorrent will have a "play-by-play" commentary regarding current events plus comments from guests in real-time, The Next Web reported. BitTorrent plans to run their new news network up to 12 hours per day during the convention.

As expected, the new news network promises that there will be no spinning on the current events. Whether BitTorrent lives up to its promise remains to be seen considering that it will be the company's first foray into the news industry as they are more known for torrents.

Jeremy Johnson, co-CEO of BitTorrent, said that they will provide unfiltered access to the news. It is not known how long the BitTorrent TV News network will last.

BitTorrent has also launched their streaming video service dubbed BitTorrent Live for the Apple TV. They believe that their peer to peer technology will allow them to easily distribute their content across the globe and maybe even faster than television itself.
