It has been reported that the upcoming season of "Vikings" will be returning this fall, most probably in September. Aside from its initial number of 16 episodes, the next season will be having an additional four episode.
The scheme was derived from a trend on TV shows of splitting their story arcs into several parts. The latest update for "Vikings" season 4 provided quick glimpses of the show's main characters like Ragnar along with his grown-up children, Bjorn Ironside, Ivar, Ubbe, Sigurd, Hvitserk who were all shortly introduced at the start of season 4. The video clip released is referring to the show's upcoming season as confirmed by History, Screen Crush reported.
Meanwhile, in an Instagram post released by the stylist behind Lagertha's new hair style that artist revealed, "This season you'll see [Lagertha] with little pieces of Celtic metal [in her hair] when she's going to battle, which looks fabulous on her." It seems like the showrunners are finally taking age into consideration for Lagertha in the upcoming season.
The official listing of the San Diego Comic Con panel says that fans should expect the show's return to SDCC. Lead stars like Travis Fimmel who plays Ragnar, Katheryn Winnick who portrays Lagertha, Clive Standen who is Rollo, Alexander Ludwig who acts as Bjorn, Gustaf Skarsgard who plays Floki and series writer and creator Michael Hirst will be present in during the event to reveal an exclusive sneak peek of the new season, Cartermatt reported.
In a trailer released by History, the clip depicts Ragnar's position in the midst of Rollo's absence. It seems that situation may go on center stage. A slightly aged Lagertha was also in the video. It can be recalled from the previous seasons that she was featured as a shield maiden
The same plan awaits season 5 as it will also be divided into two parts, with 20 episodes. More details are expected to be revealed in the upcoming San Diego Comic Con 2016, which may include a premiere date and full trailer for season 4.
