Game Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, Todd Howard speaks about 'Fallout 4' during the Bethesda E3 2015 press conference at the Dolby Theatre.

Bethesda has been accused of plagiarism by a modder due to a similarity of his mod and "Fallout 4" Far Harbor DLC quest. The game company replied that they would not disrespect the modding community by stealing from it.

Modder Guillaume Veer told Gamespot in an interview of the many similarities between his mod called Autumn Leaves and the video game's official DLC quest called Brain Dead. The publication was told of the comparison to how the story was told, the characters, and also the environment.

Veer explained that at first, the interaction between the protagonist and the one behind the intercom was nothing unusual, since this usually happens in any "Fallout" scenario. When the story goes beyond the Vault entrance, this is where numerous similarities to his mod will be noticed by the players.

Game company VP of marketing Pete Hines was contacted by the publication about the situation. He said that they respect their mod community and he checked that any of the similarities between the two items were just a coincidence. The game company has shown their respect for the mods that the modders make for the game by officially supporting them through their website, and even some mods have come to the consoles.

According to Game Zone, Autumn Leaves is a "Fallout: New Vegas" quest mod, which has a size of a DLC. It is about a murder investigation that is set inside a Vault, which lets the player ask every robotic resident inside the location to solve the mystery.

The murder investigation also has similarities where the murder victim is the prime financier of the Vault. It has also similarities on the voice modulators, which helps the player distinguish the robots apart from each other. There is even a similarity with a romantic scene between the player and the robot in both mod and the quest.

Veer said that he did not mind anymore or upset with the similarities and he understands that he has taken inspiration from other video games, including this one. He said that being influenced by some inspiration is a natural part of the writing process, but he would still like some acknowledgement for it, if possible. He added that it would be nice to them as modders and will not cost the game company any money.
