Pokémon GO Tips & Tricks: Incense vs Lure Module – Which Will Lead to Bigger Pokémon Catch?

A Pokémon Go player encounters a Dragonite on his lawn.

The Pokémon GO battle cry is to catch them all - search for and collect as many as players can get a hold on to. To attract or generate Pokémon the game app provides two tools - Incense and Lure Module. But which of the two is the better Pokémon magnet?

It all boils down on how the Pokémon GO tool will be employed, according to MobiPicker, adding that the two items share key similarities. The basic design for both is to spawn Pokémon by dispensing some sort of a fragrance that will circulate for 30 minutes. Within that timeframe, the pocket monsters will appear and hopefully in big numbers.

Now the difference lies on the manner of deployment or use. The same report said that players can lit up Incense anytime (provided he or she has good stock of the item) and anywhere. In other words, the use of Incense affords better mobility that for some players translates to bigger catch as they can move around and find as many mon as possible while the potion is in effect.

In contrast, the use of Lure Module always requires the presence of Poké Stop. Before activating the Lure Module for Pokémon to sniff on, it is a must that players get to a Poké Stop first as the tool is only effective within the confines of the station.

Sure the chance will be always there Pokémon will detect the lure and start arriving but players need to keep in mind that they need to stay on the same stop if the object is to capitalize on the Lure Module. Of note too is that when the tool is activated, other players can sense the gathering of Pokémon and the possibility is there that they can catch the Mons that one player had attracted.

This especially will be the case if one will leave a Lure Module still emitting its effect and attracting Pokémon.

But not in the case of Incense as the activated will stick with the player and follow even when moving around. In fact, one report said that players using Incense and walking at a certain rate of speed will likely attract up to 30 Pokémon during the whole time that the tool is fired though catching all of them will hinge on the skill of the player.

The same cannot be said of Lure Module.

In the end, it is the circumstance or the specific need of the player that will determine which between Incense and Lure Module will serve better purpose in the exciting Pokémon GO mission to hunt for Pokémon and catch them all.
