Nintendo NX is "really great," will bring more casual players back to console gaming: Ubisoft CEO

Ubisoft Entertainment SA is a French multinational video game publisher, headquartered in Rennes, France.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has shared his thoughts on the upcoming Nintendo NX, saying that it's "really great" and that it would help bring more "casual players" move back to console gaming.

Casual gaming is a broad term but most people would believe that it is often found on mobile smartphones or browser games such as the ever popular Candy Crush and Farmville. However, the Nintendo NX might help in redefining the notion by bringing casual gaming into new heights.

Guillemot was speaking on Ubisoft's quarterly earnings when he made the remarks regarding the Nintendo NX. The Ubisoft CEO also believes that the Nintendo NX will aid in the gaming industry's continued growth, TechCrunch has learned.

Nintendo themselves has not yet confirmed the Nintendo NX specs and features. However, they did say earlier that they will be competing with quality content and not the hardware of their console.

CD Projekt Red has also made a statement last month saying that the Nintendo NX will be "fantastic and spectacular," which does not really say much about how the console is going to perform. Ubisoft's statement is also similar.

Guillemot was also impressed with Pokemon GO and said that he is also excited about the Xbox One S, GameRant reported. He did not mention anything regarding the Project Xbox Scorpio or the PlayStation Neo which is expected to release this October.

Pokemon GO's success hopefully reflects in the upcoming Nintendo NX. The AR game developed by Niantic allowed Nintendo to soar even higher as they are now valued more than Sony for the first time.

Ubisoft is one of the first developers and publishers to announce a game for the Nintendo NX. The company initially announced their Just Dance 2017 title for the console when it releases next year.

Guillemot did not give out more details regarding the Nintendo NX. People still do not know how it will look like and how it will perform in comparison with the Project Xbox Scorpio and the PlayStation Neo. Casual gamers seem to be the target once again for Nintendo's new console but it could still end up like the Wii U which is last in the console wars today.
