The upcoming seventh season of AMC's hit series "The Walking Dead" may be one of the highly anticipated seasons of the show given the expected big reveal of Negan's victim. In a recent interview, the series' showrunner has hinted of what fans can expect in the upcoming new season and teased of a brutal premiere episode that will change the show's storyline.

For the past six seasons of the AMC series, fans have seen the death of numerous characters either through a walker or human attack. The upcoming premiere episode of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 would be no different. Loyal viewers have been expecting to see the death of one of the main characters of the show following the cliffhanger ending of Season 6.

The identity of Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) victim has been kept under wraps. However, showrunner Greg Nicotero has shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming first episode of the new season will finally reveal the truth. He described the Season 7 premiere as brutal, intense and emotional.

Nicotero also commented on the frustration that many fans may have felt about the Season 6 cliffhanger. He explained that the said scene was necessary since the death will move the AMC series' story to a new direction and impact beloved characters of the show. He even mentioned that the anticipated character death will serve as an "anchor point" for the AMC series' new chapter in Season 7.

Apart from the cliffhanger death scene, Nicotero also teased of the bigger world that they will introduce in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. The executive producer hinted of the different communities that the series' characters will discover in the new season. Avid fans of the show will also see new faces that Rick and his gang will potentially meet in upcoming episodes.

Meanwhile, a new set of photo stills for the Season 7 premiere of the AMC series has revealed Negan's potential victims, ComicBook.com reported. Several posters released through the show's official Twitter account has shown haunting pictures of some of the characters facing Negan's bat Lucille. The photos include Steven Yeun's Glenn, as well as Lincoln's Rick, Norman Reedus' character Daryl and eight others.

Avid viewers of the show would have to wait for the Season 7 trailer and further spoilers news to learn more. The promo clip for the show's seventh season has been set for release during the show's Comic-Con panel on Friday, July 22, while "The Walking Dead" Season 7 will return to the small screens in October.
