Disney's "Guardians of the Galaxy" is now casting up. On Feb. 17, Tuesday, both Rocket and Groot were assigned TV voices and now Peter "Star Lord" Quill has also been given life. The "Boy Meets World" star Will Friedle will give life to the earthling who was brought into space in Disney's 2015 XD show.
The Disney Channel announced this progress through its official Twitter account. With a video, the animated film production tweeted, "Will Friedle @willfriedle will voice #StarLord on #DisneyXD's #Marvel's #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy."
Friedle will join Trevor Devall who voices "Rocket Raccoon" and Kevin Michael Richardson who portrays the character "Groot".
The show is reportedly independent of its movie production. Rumors have been spreading that the series will bridge the gap between the recent "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" and the first installment "Guardians of the Galaxy"; however, this has been proved untrue by James Gunn, the writer and director.
"That's not true. There's no way. It's totally separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and whoever said that, it pisses me off," Gunn told the Slash Film.
Stephen Wacker, the vice president for animal of Marvel, also proved the rumors false when he shared with the New York Times, "the show's plot would pick up where the movie left off."
As for Friedle, he has been fulfilling extensive voice works for years. The actor as the Blue Beetle in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," Bumblebee in "Transformers: Robots in Disguise," Lion-O in "Thundercats," and Batman in "Batman Beyond" series. He is currently doing voice for "Kim Possible".
The animated series of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" is set to premiere within the year.
