"Empire" season 3 recently cast two young artists to play the roles of a young Cookie and Lucious Lyon.
According to TV Line, "The Ricky Smiley Show" Ajiona Alexus and newbie Jeremy Carver will be featured in the FOX TV show in a series of flashbacks.
As a young girl, Cookie will be shown studying at a Catholic school, but even though she's required to be prim and proper at all times, the female character cannot hide the fact that she already has the Cookie spunk at a young age.
Just like Cookie, Lucious grew up as a talented kid who had an edge. Even though he wasn't necessarily rich, the male character also had his own swagger.
Meanwhile, Alexus and Carver aren't the two cast members who will star in "Empire" season 3 in a recurring role.
"Private Practice" alum Taye Diggs will give life to the role of a councilman, and there are rumors that he could potentially become Cookie's newest love interest.
Kid Cudi has also been cast to play the role of Hakeem's (Bryshere Gray) biggest rival. Sierra McClain, on the other hand, will play the role of an artist that Lucious is bound to sign under his Empire Entertainment records.
Rapper French Montana will also guest in the series as one of Lucious' friends from his prestigious inner circle.
Season 2 guest star Xzibit has been promoted to series regular for season 3 as Lucious' biggest rival Shyne Johnson.
"Empire" season 3 will premiere on FOX on Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
