The Sacramento Kings is still one of the most puzzling teams in the NBA and many believe it's only a matter of time before its superstar, DeMarcus Cousins, would want to bolt for a better team.
On the other hand, the Kings also can't progress with the team seemingly held hostage by Cousins and the need to cater to his every whim. While it is hardly advisable to trade away a player as talented as Boogie is, the Kings could benefit from the return that he would bring.
In a video from Sports Illustrated, their NBA editor Matt Dollinger has mentioned that it would be better to "sell high" on Cousins before the situation blows up. They could get a star player in return, and Dollinger recommended Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards.
Beal is a shooter and he could become the Kings' primary scorer if Cousins leaves. Sacramento has enough centers to overcome the loss of Cousins and what they need is a point guard or wing players.
A trade between Beal and Cousins was already suggested even before the trade deadline in Hoops Habit by Maxwell Ogden wherein he described Beal as "a proven postseason performer and versatile scorer, which makes him the perfect player to include in a potential deal for Cousins."
This is why the Wizards took the chance on handing out a max contract for Beal and now he has to prove his worth. For the Kings, if they land Beal they are assured of his services for four years. The Kings could also ask for first round picks because Cousins is more valuable than Beal. If they desire, the Kings could also throw in the other players they want to trade, like Rudy Gay or Ben McLemore.
For the Wizards, they may have to pay a steep price but Cousins and their own star, John Wall can be the tandem to challenge LeBron James and the Cavs. They already played together in Kentucky. With new coach Scott Brooks, they can potentially unleash Boogie's full potential.
If the Kings play the trade right, they can have Beal and one of the Wizards' young swingmen (Otto Porter or Kelly Oubre) and even Trey Burke as a reserve point guard and first round picks in the future. The suggested trade cannot be made before December 15, when Beal becomes eligible.
