Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese manga series by Sui Ishida.

It is speculated that the upcoming "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will be a rework of Studio Pierrot's anime. Avid fans of the franchise will meet Ken Kaneki and Rize Kamishiro in the remake.

"Tokyo Ghoul" was well received by Sui Ishida fans when Studio Pierrot first aired it on Tokyo MX in 2014. However, fans that expected to see Kaneki and Kamishiro in the same Sui Ishida treatment were disappointed. Amid the negative feedback, Studio Pierrot is gearing up for production, with the arrival of a new central character, according to Mobile N Apps.

The network had a breakthrough when it aired 12 episodes of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 1. Studio Pierrot managed to maintain popularity despite fan protect since Sui Ishida established a strong plot in the manga series.

After a quick break, the network aired the second instalment in the "Tokyo Ghoul" franchise on January 2015. Reports have it that Season 1 and 2 will now be distributed in New Zealand and Australia.

Fans have been clamoring for the third installment and it seems their pleas will not be dismissed. According to Reddit, fans want Studio Pierrot to produce "Tokyo Ghoul" on Kaneki and Kamishiro based on the original plot of Sui Ishida.

While the third installment of "Tokyo Ghoul" would still be welcomed by a many viewers, an overhaul of the anime series would be more effective to establish a formidable fanbase. Therefore, if aficionados had their way, "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will be a reboot of Studio Pierrot's anime. Kaneki and Kamishiro will return to the Sui Ishida fold.

Based on Season 1 and 2 timeline, the network should have aired "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 by early 2016. While this was not forthcoming, fans of "Tokyo Ghoul" manga may have gotten through to the network. Latest reports indicate that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will be aired in 2016.
