Director of 'Worlds of Final Fantasy' Hiroki Chiba presents the new game at the Square Enix press conference during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June 2015.

While avid fans have been clamoring for the release of the much-rumored "Final Fantasy 7" remake, the release date is still unconfirmed. Furthermore, it seems like the game developer, Square Enix, is not planning to release the upcoming remake on Nintendo NX.

The remake's compatibility with Nintendo NX is reportedly missing, according to Game N Guide. Apart from the teaser that featured the popular Shinra Corporation bombing mission introduction sequence from Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, there is no further information about the imminent "Final Fantasy 7" remake.

Amid the lack of updates, "Final Fantasy 7" remake director, Tetsuya Nomura, confirmed that the development of the game is still in progress. There is no definite schedule for the release of the remake now, but the game will still happen in future. In an interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu translated by KH Insider, Nomura added that currently they are just gearing up for a big reveal, as opposed to giving fans small bits of information.

"I know I haven't given any information in a while, but please rest assured that work is moving forward steadily," Nomura said. "We are currently getting specifics ready for the next information release."

They plan to bring a whole lot out in one go instead of dribs and drabs, Nomura added. He asked fans to look forward to it as he is looking forward to the reveals himself.

"Final Fantasy 7" remake will reportedly release in episodes, as a homage to the original storyline. Fans expect that the much-reported big reveal will mainly focus on the actual release date of the first episode of the remake, in addition to releasing a preview trailer for players.

Furthermore, "Final Fantasy XV" will also exclude Nintendo NX from its platforms of release. Although director Hajime Tabata confirmed this, it does not imply that the likelihood of this happening in future is zero. Therefore, gamers should not rule out that possibility.

'Final Fantasy 7" remake has no definite release date, but "Final Fantasy XV" is scheduled for a launch on Sept. 30. Watch the clip below for more information on the much-anticipated remake.
