Is KickassTorrents coming back soon? One sign, though faint, that KAT will still return like The Pirate Bay did is the reactivated site forum and community that a new report said was set up by some of the people involved with the KickassTorrents operations.
Days after the KAT shutdown, which many believe could lead to the file-sharing site's eventual demise, KATcr.co came online, which essentially replicates the KickassTorrents forum and community features. "Several members of the KAT team have regrouped in an effort to get the community part of the site back up," TorrentFreak reported.
The report added that KATcr.co has already attracted a good amount of users who are presumed as KickassTorrents regulars and the numbers appear to be increasing by the day.
"We guarantee that KAT will continue in one form or another and we will come back stronger than ever," TorrentFreak quoted one Mr. Black as saying. Mr. Black speaks for the core group of KATcr.co, which as mentioned is mostly composed of KAT staffs.
The same Mr. Black is convinced that alleged KAT owner Artem Vaulin can still resurrect KickassTorrents, which prior to Vaulin's arrest and the seizure of KAT's numerous domains is regarded as the most popular torrent website in the world. TorrentFreak said that KAT attracts no less than one million visitors per day around the world.
"Should the business owners choose to revive KAT then they will have our full support," Mr. Black declared.
But as noted by TorrentFreak, none of the KAT staffs have access to the original KickassTorrents code, which likely was exclusive to Vaulin. Only his release will reinstate the KickassTorrents site and that happening soon is highly unlikely at the moment. It is speculated that Vaulin remains under detention in Poland, waiting for his extradition to the United States where he will face criminal charges.
For now, KAT users will have to make do with the mirror or clone sites that have already emerged, possibly to replace KickassTorrents. But Mr. Black is advising torrent fans to be careful when heading to these sites, warning that these are illegitimate operations and using is not without risks.
The better option it seems are the default alternatives led by The Pirate Bay and ExtraTorrent, which reportedly have experienced significant spikes in traffic since KickassTorrents went offline. Another possible route to head to is movie torrent YTS.ag, known as the unauthorized replacement for the once hugely popular torrent provider YTS/YIFY group.
