MSI is set to launch their new line of MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 8G and 4G models in the middle of August powered by their famous Twin Frozr VI cooling solution.

There are a total of four variants in the new line from MSI and they are all quite similar with the distinction of two models which will have a backplate while the other two will be optional. Speeds of the base clocks are also close to each other but the differences can be crucial when it comes to overclocking the RX 480.

The most powerful of the four new custom Polaris 10 cards is the MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 8G with its core clock speed of 1316MHz under the OC Mode, Tom's Hardware has learned. In comparison, the MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming 8G version only has a core clock speed of 1292 MHz while the Gaming X 4G version also has the higher clock frequency similar to its bigger brother.

PC gamers know that every MHz counts when overclocking. The 24MHz difference can come in handy to bring in more frames per second in heavy AAA games such as The Witcher 3 or even the old Crysis 3 running on the RX 480.

All of the MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming cards will also be powered by the new Twin Frozr VI Thermal Design with the TORX Fan 2.0 technology for better cooling even under heavy loads, Legit Reviews reported. The new tech is claimed to provide 22 percent more air pressure around the card's heatsink to easily shave off more heat while gaming.

Gamers can also make use of the MSI Gaming App that will allow them to switch between the different modes of the RX 480 for optimal performance. OC mode turns the card into overdrive while the Silent mode tries to squeeze as much as juice as it can without raising the noise level too much.

MSI has not yet revealed the official prices for their MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming X variants but they are expected to hit the shelves in the middle of August. The optional backplate choices could also have separate prices.
