Apple could be following the footsteps of Samsung as reports are now claiming that the iPhone 8 feature not only an OLED display, but also an Iris scanner as well similar to Galaxy Note 7.

Many iOS fans are already holding off on buying the upcoming iPhone 7 for the iPhone 8 simply because it would be packing significantly better features. Besides the OLED display, the iPhone 8 could also feature an Iris scanner along with the Touch ID for better security.

However, it has been shown that the Galaxy Note 7's Iris scanner is not entirely perfect and is actually pretty disappointing. The leaked disclaimer showed that the scanner only works on certain optimal conditions which means that users could face problems in using it.

Apple analysts have already speculated that Apple will be adding more biometric sensors in their devices so an Iris scanner for the iPhone 8 in 2017 is highly plausible, BGR has learned. Since Samsung is going for the Iris scanner, it can be seen as another bold move for the Cupertino-based tech giant to kind of copy what their competitor has in their products.

Earlier reports have claimed that Iris scanners would be faster than fingerprint sensors because it would be instantly detected. However, the new leaked info shows that it is far from perfect.

There is still a chance that Apple's iPhone 8 would carry an improved version of the Iris scanner considering that it will be launched next year and not this August like the Galaxy Note 7. For now, the iPhone 7 would feature Touch ID security.

Another possible feature in the iPhone 8 for 2017 is wireless charging which could be developed by LG Innotek, WCCFTech reported. LG's subsidiary has recently come up with a wireless charger that can provide 15W of power to the smartphones that they are charging.

Apple is not expected to confirm or announce anything regarding the iPhone 8 until next year. The iPhone 7 is still under wraps for now and it could take several more months before fans can see whether there will be an Iris scanner on the iPhone 8 like the Galaxy Note 7 does.
