The NBA trade rumors continue and one player that seems to have been left in the cold is Taj Gibson of the Chicago Bulls.
His core teammates have all left the corral and his coach is now with Minnesota. The Bulls have loaded up on young talent at the frontcourt and his blue collar toughness could benefit another team.
Meanwhile the Phoenix Suns are at a conundrum. In a feature on Bleacher Report by Grant Hughes, the Suns glaring needs at the end of the draft and free agency were identified.
"Experience and power forward were options here, as the young Phoenix Suns are built around lottery picks (especially at the 4). But a more immediate, potentially damaging issue looms in the backcourt," Hughes wrote.
The Suns drafted the top power forwards in the lottery (Dragan Bender and Marquesse Chriss) but neither of them could be relied on to contribute immediately. A trade that could provide a solution to both the Suns' needs can be executed.
Taj Gibson could be the experienced power forward to fill in the gaps while the rookies develop and Brandon Knight could be the trade chip. But the Bulls don't need another scoring, ball-heavy guard with Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade in their roster.
Enter Rudy Gay who recently voiced out his frustration with the Sacramento Kings as he voiced out in Sactown Royalty.
"I try to do what I can control, which is be on the basketball court, but I think at some point you've got to have the players, their futures and what they have at stake in mind when you make decisions and I don't think that happened," Gay shared.
Apart from sharing his frustration, he also said he understood why Rajon Rondo was unhappy and decided to sign with the Chicago Bulls. Gay also mentioned the Kings glaring need.
"The thing about it is, you need a lot of people out there that can make decisions with the ball. We had that last year. Where that went from that, I don't know. You can't just sit here and blame it on coaching," Gay said.
The Kings failed to address their point guard issue and only managed to make a coaching change. As Gay pointed out, that's not nearly enough. He sounded disinterested with the other changes the Kings have made (drafting two centers).
Sending Brandon Knight to the Kings would give them a prime option at point guard (not to mention adding to their Kentucky Wildcat collection) and Rudy Gay would benefit from a new start with the Chicago Bulls. Gay is a scorer and has long been rumored to be a great fit for the Windy City.
Taj Gibson to the Suns, Brandon Knight to the Kings and Rudy Gay to the Bulls would be a trade that would address each team's need.
