"The Vampire Diaries" showrunner Julie Plec revealed that Bonnie will be in a "terrible emotional place" in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 executive producer Julie Plec recently talked about the upcoming episodes of the hit The CW series.

While speaking with Buddy TV at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, the exec clarified that the ending that she wants the show to have doesn't have anything to do with what the fans want to see.

In "The Vampire Diaries," the fans are rooting for certain "ships," namely, Delena (Damon-Elena), Steroline (Stefan-Caroline), Bonenzo (Bonnie-Enzo) and more.

However, Plec said that whichever ending they choose to go with will solely be based on what is necessary for the story.

"The goal is not to try to make the fans happy because of some small thing they've latched onto that they consider important to them, but to make the experience resolve itself satisfyingly, to make sure that your characters are being true to themselves and true to each other, finding closure in relationships, letting people come back together to be happy, answering those questions of where will these people be, these are immortal beings, how long will they live and what their life will look like at the end, and really delivering on a good, happy ending, as much as that's possible for each character," she said.

Meanwhile, Plec said that no matter what happens to certain "ships," she is confident that all of the viewers will be satisfied and happy with the ending that they are planning on.

In other news, the exec also opened up about some of the characters from the series, namely, Bonnie and Alaric.

According to her, Bonnie (Kat Graham) will do everything in her power to make sure that she can save both Damon and Enzo. However, anything is possible in the series, and Plec hinted on the idea of either one of the two being killed off.

As for Alaric (Matt Davis), Plec is still contemplating on whether or not they should give the character a secured love life or they will just write him off as the one that cannot find love.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
