Spanish Olympic competitor David Ferrer revealed that Rafael Nadal's recovery from a wrist injury is very delicate.

Ferrer, who is scheduled to play in men's singles and doubles in Rio, said he will accompany Nadal to Rio and try to monitor his progress ahead of the day of competition.

"I will travel with Rafa on Sunday to Rio," Ferrer told Spanish radio Cadena Ser via News18.com."His situation is more delicate. It's never easy to come back after an injury. We will see how he feels."

Nadal has been sidelined from playing competitive tennis since May 27 after he pulled out from Roland Garros with a left wrist injury. The Spaniard's status has never been uncertain after suffering yet another setback in a year that gives him opportunity to regain his old play.

As for Ferrer, he treats the upcoming play in Rio as a chance to return to groove and end his misfortunes on the court this season. For the first time in six years, Ferrer dropped out of the top 10 in the ATP World rankings.

"After Wimbledon, I needed a break to regain my enthusiasm," Ferrer said of his current season. "It hasn't been my best year, very irregular and I just haven't shown my best.

"You can't always be at your maximum level and every year is more difficult, but I believe I can give more. I know I can play and compete better."
