BLACKPINK and I.O.I

It seems that a girl group battle is happening soon as BLACKPINK and I.O.I will be engaged in an all-out battle for the charts on Aug. 8 and 9.

YG girl group BLACKPINK debut is finally confirmed to happen on Aug. 8 and is expected to drop the music video and album on the said date.

YG Entertainment dropped a teaser image showing the fingers of the members in a rock sign with background of roses. The exact debut date will be on Aug. 8 at 8PM. The date was initially announced as the probable debut date for the girl group.

YG Entertainment has officially revealed the members of BLACKPINK - Jennie Kim, Lalisa Manoban, Kim Jisoo, and Park Chaeyoung. Yibada previously reported that the new YG girl group will have four members like its sunbae group 2NE1.

Meanwhile, the unit group of I.O.I will be dropping its own track on Aug. 9 at 12AM, just a few hours after BLACKPINK.

The group will be debuting their first unit group three months after I.O.I's debut with album "Chrysalis" and title track "Dream Girls."

According to Soompi, I.O.I's unit group includes members Kim Doyeon, Kim Sohye, Kim Chungha, Im Nayoung, Jeon Somi, Zhou Jieqong (also known as Pinky), and Choi Yoojung. The unit group finished filming their music video on July 20 and is preparing for the release and promotions.

Although different in concept, there will be an unspoken rivalry between the two groups. I.O.I is known for having innocent yet playful school girls, while BLACKPINK will reportedly have the same concept with 2NE1.
