Football Transfer Rumors: New Sunderland boss David Moyes plans Man United raid; reveals Adnan Januzaj, Will Keane as top targets

Newly-appointed Sunderland manager David Moyes.

Ex-Manchester United head coach and now Sunderland AFC boss David Moyes revealed that he is planning to raid his former club this summer as the Black Cats are hit by an injury crisis at the moment.

The Daily Express reported that the Scottish mentor is "left with only 11 fit senior players" in his team's active roster following the squad's 1-1 friendly draw with Ligue 1 side Montpellier HSC at the Stade Municipal Jacques Forestier last Saturday, which was the final game of their preseason French tour.

Moyes, who replaced Sam Allardyce just a week ago, is keen on getting to know his players as much as possible this offseason before they head on to the new English top flight term, but his arrival was welcomed by a double injury blow during the said match.

Defenders Jan Kirchhoff and Billy Jones were the latest to succumb to injuries in Moyes' roster and the former Red Devils manager is said to be returning to the Old Trafford to get reinforcements.

The report particularly mentioned winger Adnan Januzaj and striker Will Keane as Moyes' targets with the two players rumored to be a surplus to current United boss Jose Mourinho's plans next season.

Aside from the Manchester players, Moyes is also said to be keen on adding Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida to boost the team's backline after the double injury in Montpellier.

"We've obviously been looking, and the manager will have his targets," assistant coach Robbie Stockdale said. "Over the next couple of weeks, hopefully before the start of the season, we will add to the squad to help the players in it."

"We've been watching videos of players and we have scouting reports, so we are always on the case," Stockdale added.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside noted that Januzaj made somewhat of an impact during his early years at the Old Trafford but had fell out of favor under Louis van Gaal.

Moyes had been his coach during his first few years in United and the manager is said to be keen on reuniting with him in Sunderland next season.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Keane had always been loaned out by the Red Devils in the past three seasons and is also not a key part of Mourinho's rotation.
