The "Overwatch" characters fighting off enemies to survive their big assault.

Blizzard is launching an Overwatch Olympics Rio DLC that provides several makeovers for the characters in the game which are attainable by leveling up or buying them at the marketplace.

The new in-game content for Overwatch is themed for the upcoming Summer Olympics which will be held in Rio, Brazil. Blizzard could be seeking to cash in on the hype as their multiplayer shooter is still hitting their stride.

Blizzard has not yet officially announced the new content but they did send out several packages to some lucky players containing pamphlets and sticker sheets for the Olympics-themed Overwatch characters. Twitch streamer "LacedupLauren" posted a tweet with the images of Blizzard's Overwatch Olympics Rio theme content, Polygon has learned.

The package includes stickers for the possible Overwatch Olympics skins such as Track and Field Tracer and Weightlifting Zarya. There is also a photo of a new map that could be titled Rio De Janeiro for Overwatch players to play with once it officially rolls out.

Other characters include Volleyball Player Winston and BMX Rider Reaper. The new Overwatch Summer Games event starts on August 2 and will end on August 22, Engadget reported.

There doesn't seem to be any official partnership between the Olympics and Blizzard as the Overwatch content is tagged as Summer Games only. Nevertheless, it is clearly implied that it is a nod to the upcoming Olympics events in Brazil.

Overall, there will be 90 Overwatch Summer Games items that players can grind to collect or to directly buy from the PC and console marketplaces. One box ensures that there will be at least one Olympics-themed item for the players.

Blizzard has already started rolling out the Overwatch Summer Games Loot Boxes in Xbox One and PlayStation stores. They still have the same price as the current loot boxes which can cost up to $39.99 which are purchasable only with real money and not the in-game credits.

Overwatch players could see other players donning the Summer Games skins in the next few days as they continue to grind for the Olympics-themed Loot Boxes which could also contain emotes and sprays. Blizzard has yet to officially announce the new DLC content.
