‘The Winds of Winter’ Release Date, News & Update: Fewer People Will Die In The Book; George R.R. Martin Talks Book Release

Fans have been waiting patiently for "The Winds of Winter" to release, but  all they get is updates in bits and pieces. While the book is not releasing anytime soon, the sources claim that the book will have fewer deaths, as compared to "Game of Thrones" season 6.

Two decades ago, George RR Martin introduced his first book from "A Song of Ice and Fire" series that was later adapted into HBO acclaimed show, "Game of Thrones." In celebration of his 20th anniversary, Martin said in his blog that he will release a new book soon. However, unfortunately for fans, it wasn't, the much awaited, "The Winds of Winter." On Monday, Martin revealed that a unique edition of "Game of Thrones" will be launched in October.

Now that it has been officially announced that "Game of Thrones" will conclude its popular show after its eighth season, the fans are becoming exceedingly anxious about the "The Winds of Winter" release date. Now the question is, will the show outpace Martin's last two novels, like its previous seasons?

To appease the fans, Martin updated on his blog that he is still working on the sixth book. However, he did not mention anything about the book's progress or its release date. According to Newsweek, who contacted Martin's publishing editor in United States and United Kingdom, there is no news about Martin's progress on the book and if he is any closer to completing it.

Meanwhile, reports claim that "The Winds of Winter" will have fewer deaths, as compared to the sixth season of "Game of Thrones." The book, reportedly, is much different from the HBO series that deviated from the book long time ago. Many big characters in the sixth season were killed but it will not be the case in the book.

The rumor has it that HBO series decided to ramp down its cast so that they could control the increasing budget. As a result, many important characters were killed in the show. Since the book does not have to actually pay the characters, there is a fair chance that the killed characters on the show may actually be alive in the book.

Martin confirmed that some characters - Stannis, Shireen, Ser Barristan, Grenn, Pyp and some more - are still alive in his book. However, he did point out that three major characters will die in his book, although Martin didn't reveal any more than that.
