Mickie James attends Spike TV's 'Guys Choice 2013' at Sony Pictures Studios on June 8, 2013 in Culver City, California.

The women's division of both WWE Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live is very thin at the moment due to the recent brand extension. According to the latest rumors, former Women's and Divas champion Mickie James could be returning to the WWE to bolster the division.

The official website of the WWE recently posted a list of ten superstars that are free agents and could potentially be signed by either Raw or SmackDown. Some of the obvious names include The Undertaker, The Rock and Nikki Bella but the remaining stars on the list are possible additions in the future.

"New blood has invigorated the Women's division in WWE, but few would argue that seeing a veteran like Mickie James come to Raw or SmackDown Live to square off with the likes of Sasha Banks, Charlotte or Becky Lynch wouldn't be a sight to behold," the WWE.com report stated.

James last appeared on WWE television in 2010 but she returned for a week at the WWE Performance Center in 2013 as a guest trainer. She also attended an NXT Live Event in Tampa, Florida during her brief stint at the developmental.

Being mentioned in a WWE.com article means the company is teasing the return of James and several superstars. A former Women's and Divas champion like her is vital to the improvement of the division. If she gets signed by Raw, she can face the likes of Banks, Charlotte and Paige.

On the other hand, Lynch, Natalya and the recent NXT call-ups would be getting a veteran that can help them in the ring if she joins SmackDown. James can help talents get over to the crowd since she is future WWE Hall of Famer.

The 36-year-old superstar is not the only former WWE women's champion that has been rumored to be returning to the company. According to The Inquisitr, Victoria and Melina are also making their WWE returns in the near future.

Victoria has been teasing her return on social media but it has not been confirmed. However, Melina's return has been confirmed by several reputable sources inside the WWE. Both women, like James, can help young talents get over.

SmackDown seems to have the most need in the women's division at the moment. General Manager Daniel Bryan has announced that the blue brand will have its own Women's Championship but they need to fill up their roster first.
