Torrentz.eu clones start to pop up after Kickass Torrents (KAT) takedown; Facebook deletes Extra Torrent pages but The Pirate Bay (TPB) still online

Torrents alternatives after fall of Kickass Torrents, Torrenthound and Torrentz: Kickass.mx shut down

Kickass Torrents (KAT) may be shut down but Torrentz.eu mirrors and clones have already started to pop up despite Facebook taking down Extra Torrent pages while The Pirate Bay (TPB) still exists.

Torrentz has recently shut down itself in what seems to be a voluntary attempt to distance itself from legal altercation after what happened to Kickass Torrents. The torrent meta search engine just posted a farewell on its homepage and disabled their search engine.

Several Torrentz alternatives and mirrors are now popping up that claims they are affiliated with the formerly shut down site. There is no evidence yet but there is one clone that functions very similar to the torrent search engine.

Clone site Torrentz2.eu allows users to search for torrents that can be found on the several torrent sites available just like what the original Torrentz did, NDTV has learned. Users can now find their favorite Mr Robot Season 2 episode or Stranger Things compilation that could be present in The Pirate Bay, Extra Torrent and KAT alternatives online.

While the torrent search engine was not similar to TPB and Kickass Torrents, it was still a huge part of the piracy industry as users can just enter their search term to get the best torrent. Users did not need to go to torrent site by site in order to search for the torrent they want to download which can take time.

Facebook has started removing the official Extra Torrent page but The Pirate Bay fanpage still exists in the social network, TorrentFreak reported. One reason behind the Facebook page takedowns is because of the copyright infringement reports.

Extra Torrent now has several more pages up with only about a thousand likes and growing. Facebook could still delete the said pages in their next wave of takedowns while the accounts affiliated with them are still disabled.

Kickass Torrents and Torrentz have been taken down and Facebook seems to be finding a way to help curb piracy as well by blocking Extra Torrent pages on the social network. Pirates can still search for Torrentz clones to find their torrents present on The Pirate Bay or KAT mirrors.
