"Criminal Minds" star Thomas Gibson was recently fired from set after an altercation with one of the show's producers.

According to TV Line, the actor kicked the producer after having an argument with him. At that time, Gibson was suspended from two episodes of "Criminal Minds," but the network and the heads of the series later on confirmed that he will no longer be back.

Earlier this week, the actor released a statement expressing his sadness over the incident. He added that he regretted what happened on set that day.

He also released a separate statement to the publication where he said, "I love 'Criminal Minds' and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won't be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have."

Meanwhile, Gibson previously accepted the fact that he would be suspended from two episodes, but the actor just hired LA-based lawyers Skip Miller and Sasha Frid to handle his case against the network now that they have decided to fire him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gibson was directing an episode of "Criminal Minds" when he and producer Virgil Williams had an argument over creative differences. After the altercation, Williams filed a complaint with the human resources which resulted in Gibson being replaced by another director.

As of late, it is still unclear what will happen to Gibson's character Hotch. There are some rumors suggesting that the character may be killed off. Some fan speculations also claim that Gibson will just be replaced by another actor.

In other news, this is not the first time that Gibson was involved in an altercation on the set of his TV shows. Several years ago, he also shoved an assistant director while on set and was required to attend anger management classes.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 will premiere on CBS on Sept. 28.
