Last season's newly-promoted team Watford FC (0-0-1, 1 point) remained in the English top flight this term and is looking to have a better campaign in the 2016-2017 Premier League. They clash with powerhouse squad Chelsea FC (1-0-0, 3 points) at their home ground of Vicarage Road this Saturday for their second game this season.

Watford escaped with a 1-1 draw against Southampton on the road last Saturday at the St. Mary's Stadium after midfielder Ben Watson was sent off and the team went one-man down in the final 14 plus minutes of the match, as per SkySports.

The Hornets' French midfielder Étienne Capoue opened the scoring at the ninth minute with an assist from resident striker Troy Deeney, but the Saints were able to equalize in the second half with a strike from newcomer Nathan Redmond at the 58th.

Head coach Walter Mazzarri replaced central midfielder Valon Behrami with Watson six minutes after Redmond's goal, but he was booked for a direct red card after a hard foul on Saints forward Shane Long, who almost gave the lead to the hosts at the 76th minute.

With a one-man disadvantage, Watford defended well against the persistent attacks of Redmond and Long in the late minutes to settle for the tie and share of a point in the overall standings.

Meanwhile, Chelsea showed why they are considered as one of the main title contenders this season by turning back tough team West Ham United, 2-1, at the Stamford Bridge on Monday, ESPN reported.

After a scoreless first half, Belgian superstar Eden Hazard drew first blood with a penalty kick two minutes into the second half to break the game's deadlock.

The Blues appeared to be in full control of the match until West Ham defender James Collins leveled the count at the 77th.

The game looked headed to a tie, but head coach Antonio Conte's boys are not to be denied as resident striker Diego Costa provided the winner with one minute left before full time to snatch away the three points from the Hammers.

The predicted result is a 2-0 victory for Chelsea.

Watford starting lineup (3-5-2 formation): Gomes; Cathcart, Prödl, Britos; Amrabat, Capoue, Behrami, Guedioura, Holebas; Deeney, Ighalo
