Electronic Arts (EA) has deployed the latest patch to its popular life simulation game "The Sims 4." However, a hidden code included in the patch may have unveiled an upcoming new event system.

The game developer has released its latest patch on Tuesday, Aug. 16, that addressed a few game bugs and added a new phone customization option. The patch notes posted on "The Sims" community forum has shared that players can now change their Sim character's cell phone covers. The new feature will allow gamers to customize a Sim's mobile device's cover pattern and colors.

Other enhancements that were introduced to the game includes several bug fixes such the correction of an action where a Sim would automatically stop sleeping to watch a DJ Booth or Puppet Theater show. Some music and Create-A-Sim settings were also corrected, as well as a hot tub issue that previously resulted to Sims being stuck in the said item.

Players would also be happy with the technical issues that EA developers have addressed in some of the game's stuff and expansion packs. The "discarded" children status that was observed with items from the "Kids Room Stuff" has been fixed, as well as the bug that resulted in the dark appearance of collectible Voidcritter cards.

Some of the items found in "The Sims 4: Backyard Stuff" has also been fixed. Game developers have addressed the incorrect necklace placement. The said stuff pack's frog fountain has also been enhanced to include water sounds.

Meanwhile, the patch also included a hidden code that teased of a potential new "event" system, according to a report posted on Sims Community. Avid players may recall how EA would introduce special events and a few non-playable characters. One of the said game events included the Growfruit challenge where the special character Jasmine Holiday was added temporarily to "The Sims 4."

The latest patch is said to contain an expanded code that hinted of a potential new "XP" system. Game speculations posted on the same site indicated that an upcoming event may introduce a period where experience points, performance boosts or friendship levels would increase at a faster or slower rate.

At this time, it is still unclear if the new event or "XP" system will be introduced in the game. Avid "The Sims 4" players would have to wait for further announcements from EA.
