WWE Rumors: Update on Shawn Michaels' role in NXT and at the Performance Center

Since retiring as an active wrestler in 2010, Shawn Michaels has been an ambassador for the WWE while having his own television show about hunting. However, the latest rumors imply that he just signed a full-time contract to be an NXT coach and here are all the updates regarding about it.

The Heartbreak Kid retired in 2010 after losing to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 in Streak vs. Career Match. He decided to hang up the boots in order to spend more time with his family and watch his kids grow up.

Michaels has made sporadic appearances on WWE television with the latest being at WrestleMania 32. Along with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mick Foley, they confronted the League of Nations and to give fans a moment they will never forget.

The 51-year-old is still an ambassador for the WWE but he is relocating to Florida from Texas to fulfill a big role in the future of the company. According to PWInsider (subscription required), Michaels has signed on to become a full-time coach at the WWE Performance Center.

It is noted that Michaels will be taking over Terry Taylor's role as coach of the finishing class. Taylor recently underwent neck surgery and he will need some time to recover. Other changes in the WWE Performance Center personnel include Sara Amato and Adam Pearce being promoted to the main roster.

The two long-time NXT coaches are now going to be full-time agents and producers for the main roster. As for Michaels, it is going to be a difficult transition from being retired in Texas to moving in Florida.

Nevertheless, the WWE Hall of Famer had several stints as a guest coach in NXT over the past years. He also founded the Texas Wrestling Academy in 1999 that produced many WWE superstars such as Daniel Bryan, Brian Kendrick, Paul London and the late Lance Cade, per What Culture.

The Showstopper is considered by many as the greatest wrestler of all time. His matches with Bret Hart, The Undertaker and many legends of the industry are always in Top 10 greatest matches of all time lists of fans.

Michaels holds the record of having winning Pro Wrestling Illustrated Match of the Year with 11. If anyone can teach the future stars of the WWE on how to great, it is The Heartbreak Kid, The Showstopper, The Icon, Mr. WrestleMania.
