Aortic dissection could be the cause of pain in the chest, according to Mayo ClinicThis happens when the inner layers of the aorta separate, it can rupture the aorta because the in-between layers will be forced with blood.

Lung-Related Causes

There are a few lung problems that trigger chest pain, such as pulmonary embolism, which happens when there is blood clot in a lung artery. Another cause is collapsed lung wherein there is a leakage of air that goes into the space separating the ribs and the lung.

Muscle Problems

Sore muscles can also cause chest pain, which should not be disregarded by those who suffer persistent aches.
