Last season's third-place finishers Tottenham Hotspur FC (1-0-1, 4 points) is set to face preseason favorites Liverpool FC (1-1-0, 3 points) in a Week 3 match at the White Hart Lane on Saturday, August 27 as the 2016-2017 Premier League season moves forward.

Tottenham finally earned their first win of the new season after they dispatched the challenge of Crystal Palace FC, 1-0, also at their home field of White Hart Lane last Saturday, as per SkySports.

Newly-acquired player Victor Wanyama scored the lone goal of the game for head coach Mauricio Pochettino's side at the 82nd minute as both teams had a hard time with their offensive sets throughout the match.

The 25-year-old Kenyan defensive midfielder was signed by the Spurs in June to a five-year deal from Southampton for a transfer fee of £11 million.

With the win, Tottenham bounced back from their disappointing 1-1 draw with Everton during their season-opener on the road at the Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Liverpool suffered their first loss of the season against an unlikely victor as newly-promoted side Burnley FC blanked them, 0-2, at the Turf Moor also last Saturday, BBC Sport reported.

Head coach Jürgen Klopp's boys were not able to respond to the Clarets two-goal haul during the contest, despite having ball possession 81 percent of the time, as Burnley strikers Sam Vokes and Andre Gray scored a goal each at the second and 37th minutes respectively.

The report noted that the 19 percent ball possession Burnley had during the game was "the lowest total by a winning side in the Premier League since Opta began recording the statistic in the 2003-04 season".

The Reds were said to be just "a shadow of their impressive offensive form during their season-opener against Arsenal, where they won a high-scoring 4-3 affair with a brace from Brazilian winger Philippe Coutinho and a goal each from Adam Lallana and Sadio Mané.

Mané did not feature for Liverpool against Burnley and is also expected to miss this match versus Tottenham after the newly-signed Senegalese forward got injured during training.

The predicted result is a tough 1-0 win by Tottenham Hotspur.
