Premier League 2016-2017: Chelsea vs Burnley, Preview, Prediction & Predicted Lineup

| Aug 23, 2016 01:16 AM EDT

Chelsea striker Diego Costa (#19) competes for the ball against two Watford defenders.

Last season's dethroned champions Chelsea FC (2-0-0, 6 points) will gun for a perfect three-of-three wins in the newly-opened 2016-2017 Premier League season as they host newly-promoted club Burnley FC (1-1-0, 3 points) at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Aug. 27.

Chelsea opened the season with two straight victories, outlasting contending team West Ham United, 2-1, also at the home on Aug. 15 and pulling off a similar 2-1 win over last season's newly-promoted squad Watford at the Vicarage Road last Saturday, as per SkySports.

Both wins came from Diego Costa's late-game winners as the Spanish striker feels empowered under new head coach Antonio Conte at the start of this term.

Last Saturday against the Hornets, the Blues successfully mounted a comeback with two goals in the last ten minutes from Belgian newcomer Michy Batshuayi and Costa.

Watford's French defensive midfielder Étienne Capoue opened the scoring at the 55th after both teams concluded the first 45 minutes of play on a goalless draw.

Conte's side looked headed to their first loss of the season as time ran out, but Batshuayi found the equalizing goal at the 80th off a six-yard rebound from an Eden Hazard long range strike.

Costa's game-winner came in controversial fashion as the Spaniard avoided a second yellow card booking to score at the 87th, propelling the Pensioners to the win for the second straight game this season.

Meanwhile, Burnley stunned early favorites Liverpool FC, 2-0, at their home ground of Turf Moor also last Saturday for their first win this season, BBC Sport reported.

Strikers Sam Vokes and Andre Gray provided the goals for the Clarets early at the second and 37th minutes respectively in an effective 4-4-2 formation as they held manager Jürgen Klopp's side scoreless throughout the match.

With the win, head coach Sean Dyche's boys were able to bounce back from their opening day loss to Swansea City, 0-1, also at home.

The team is expected to face more difficulty against the Blues at the Stamford Bridge this weekend, though, as Conte's club tries to arrest their issues on defense early in the season.

The predicted result is a 3-1 rout for Chelsea.

Chelsea starting lineup (4-1-4-1 formation): Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Kanté; Pedro, Oscar, Matic, Hazard; Costa

Burnley starting lineup (4-4-2 formation): Heaton; Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward; Boyd, Marney, Defour, Arfield; Gray, Vokes
