"The Flash" season 3 recently booked "The Vampire Diaries" alum Todd Lasance for a recurring role.

According to TV Line, Lasance will play the role of a villainous character, but not necessarily season three's big bad Savitar. Instead, he will play the role of The Rival, a self-made, black-suited speedster. The publication also confirmed that Lasance will appear in the premiere episode of "The Flash" season 3.

Meanwhile, some other new characters that will be joining the hit The CW series include Grey Damon's Mirror Master and Dr. Alchemy that has yet to be cast. Another villain that will be introduced in Savitar and a first look at the character was shown in the newest teaser for the series.

While speaking with the publication, co-showrunner Todd Helbing said, "Savitar in Hindu means 'the god of speed,' and he has this sort of cult-like essence, where he's sort of like the speed god. But everything about him is different than Zoom and Reverse-Flash. I can't go into much detail, but he's quite a bit different."

In the clip, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) could be seen talking to his dad Henry (John Wesley Shipp).

"I went back in time and created a whole new existence," Barry said in the clip.

In other news, the cast of "The Flash" season 3 are still in Vancouver, Canada for the filming of the upcoming episodes. Just recently, photos from the set were released online on Twitter and Instagram.

One of the photos showed Jesse L. Martin and Tom Cavanagh. Another photo was of Gustin and Keiynan Lonsdale.

Gustin also posted a photo of the script for "The Flash" season 3, episode 5 which will be called "Monster" via his Instagram page.

"The Flash" season 3 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
