"Nashville" Season 5 will reportedly be acquired by CMT network.

"Nashville" season 5 was recently picked up by CMT after it was axed by ABC, and lead star Connie Britton was confirmed to return as Rayna.

However, TV Line just reported that the actress will be leaving the series even before the season 5 finale.

The publication revealed that the actress will only be part of the first 10 episodes of "Nashville" season 5. As of late, it is still unclear how Rayna's exit will be written into the series.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reported that a source close to Britton is still trying to convince the actress to stay until the end of season 5. After all, it is still unclear if the series will be renewed for a sixth season. With this, it would be best if all of the characters will say goodbye to "Nashville" at the same time.

As of late, the reps from CMT have not yet confirmed or denied Britton's early exit from "Nashville" season 5.

Also according to the publication, CMT ordered a total of 22 episodes for "Nashville" season 5. This means that there will be 12 episodes that may not feature Britton's Rayna. The character happens to be in a relationship with Deacon (Charles Esten). She also has two daughters.

In other news, Rayna will have at least one exciting storyline that will impact her professional and personal life. According to TV Guide, Rayna will meet a very rich superfan who would encourage her to take her music to a whole new generation. However, it seems that the super fan/app developer has other plans for the lead character.

In other news, "Nashville" season 5 will begin production next month. After each episode airs on CMT, it will be picked up by Hulu for a re-run the next day. CMT and Hulu have a partnership.

"Nashville" season 5, episode 1 will air on CMT on Jan. 5.
