Intricate details about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel still remains a mystery, which is why a lot of fans are trying so hard to speculate on what the upcoming film would be all about. Recently, a lot of new characters were introduced, which escalated fans' excitement for the movie's release.
Previous reports stated that the sequel would revolve around the parental history of Peter Quill, aka The Star Lord, wherein it was recently confirmed that Ego the Living Planet is his father and would be played by Kurt Russel. It is also reported that the movie would focus on reuniting families such as Peter and Ego, Nebula and Gamora, who would be working on the rift between their sibling relationships and be on the same team for the first time.
Collider reported that Guardians of the Galaxy's official synopsis states that a lot of new characters would be included in Peter Quill's group of misfit heroes, and new villains would also be introduced.
It is also rumored that the new fan art that director James Gunn posted revealed the creatures that the superheroes would fight off in the film.
In the fan art, the group of heroes were seen having an intense battle with a creature called "Abilisk." It is said that this creature has a similar feature with the monsters seen in John Carpenter's The Thing.
Ecumenical News also reported that Marvel recently confirmed the involvement of actor Nathan Fillion in the upcoming sequel.
The actor would portray the role of Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man in Marvel comics. Simon William is an actor who despises Tony Stark because he blames him for the downfall of his business. Later on, Williams became a villain who plotted his revenge towards Iron Man, and he even succeeded in trapping the Avengers but immediately had a change of heart and decided to join the group of heroes instead.
Although it is stated that Fillion would have a cameo appearance in the film, the true colors and history behind the actor would not be explored in the upcoming sequel; however, fans should still keep an eye on numerous Easter eggs that would be featured in his scenes.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits the theaters on May 5, 2017.
