WWE Rumors: Update on Brock Lesnar-Shane McMahon angle; Royal Rumble match not happening?

| Aug 29, 2016 08:39 AM EDT

Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker battle it out at WWE SummerSlam 2015.

The WWE recently teased a match between Brock Lesnar and Shane McMahon towards the end of SummerSlam. According to the latest update and rumors about the feud, the current plan is for Shane-O-Mac to find Lesnar's opponent.

The Beast defeated Randy Orton at the main event of SummerSlam by technical knockout. He busted open Orton the hard way by using his elbows and it created a lot of buzz. After the match, Vince McMahon's son tried to calm Lesnar but he ended up getting hit by an F5.

Speculations about a possible Lesnar vs. Shane match started to swirl after the event. Many people expect it to happen at the Royal Rumble next year since the former UFC and WWE World champion has the rest of 2016 off.

According to Daily Wrestling News, the WWE have discussed Shane wrestling Lesnar but fans will not really buy into it. The Beast is one of the few legitimate badasses in the company and it would be hard to believe that someone like Shane-O-Mac can beat him.

However, a proper storyline can be put together as seen in last week's episode of SmackDown Live. Shane, the brand's commissioner, said that the thing between him and Lesnar is far from over. It means that the WWE might be setting up Shane to pick the Lesnar's next opponent possibly at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 33.

One of the rumored names that may give Lesnar a big challenge is Bill Goldberg, who recently appeared for the WWE. He is currently one of the ambassadors for the WWE 2K17 video game and he has teased a possible match with Lesnar.

Many fans were expecting Goldberg to show up at SummerSlam but nothing happened. The WWE might be waiting for better time to make it happen. It should be noted that Lesnar and Goldberg faced each other at WrestleMania XX in 2004.

On the other hand, Samoa Joe recently made some comments about his desire in facing Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. The former NXT champion is still at developmental but he is expected to get called up sooner than later.

"For selfish reasons, I'd like to see Brock stand tall until I get my hands on him," quipped the NXT champion. I'd like to see Brock pull through so I can get my shot at him. WrestleMania 33. Where else would we fight?" Joe told Forbes in an interview before SummerSlam.

Joe vs. Lesnar is a dream match of many and the WWE might be looking to give fans that. Nevertheless, these are all just speculations at the moment. Check out the video below to see Lesnar hit the F5 on Shane-O-Mac.
