"Game of Thrones" actor Kristian Nairn who played the beloved stable boy Hodor, Bran Stark's longtime buddy and protector has an upcoming disc jockey gig in September. The Northern Irish actor has shown his knack for music when he went on a tour in the United States in the 2014's "Rave of Thrones."
Nairn will perform as a DJ at The Garage, a nightclub in Aberdeen, United Kingdom on Sept. 9, Evening Express reported. During the after party of the Comic Con in San Diego in July, he sent people wild with electronic dance music which is lyrically pretty scarce.
The 6'11 actor has been an accomplished house DJ for 16 years prior to joining the team of HBO's epic show. Nairn's character was a recurring one in the first to sixth seasons of the fantasy series, except the fifth season. Hodor has been the protector and longtime buddy of Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and died in this year's Season 6 episode 5 "The Door."
Hodor saved the Stark boy whom he cared about more than anybody else until his last breath in that episode. He is among the memorable characters loved by "Game of Thrones" fans whose death was emotional, impactful and doubly heartbreaking. Followers of the show learned that his condition was caused by Stark, only to lose him just moments later, still because of the boy he protected.
The 40-year-old towering actor already knew from the start Hodor would be one of the most popular characters of the show, despite not being a main character. The positive response of friends and fans about his character's death was great.
"The day that show went out, I've never witnessed anything like it on my phone," Nairn told The Independent. "I think I got something like 76,000 Tweets that night. It was just unbelievable."
Fans were sad in a different way to watch the gentle giant die because it was not the usual violent head cut off but his noble deed really drew people's imagination. Nairn expressed his joy after finding out how he would die, saying, "When I read the scene, I couldn't have asked for a better way to go."
