Jaycee Chan Auspiciously Shorn Like a Sheep by Famous Father

The government has been cracking down on celebrities who commit drug-related crimes and have made an example of Jaycee Chan.

Instead of wondering what his Western fans had decided upon in their quest to accurately translate the Mandarin word "yang" during the Chinese New Year period, global action film celebrity Jackie Chan chose to pick up his barber tools to give his former prisoner son a new haircut.

Based on the Weibo photos, Jaycee Chan resembled an Australian sheep after it has been given the cutting treatment by a shearer.

Of course, the sheep analogy is suitable in this case, due to the Chinese zodiac symbol that presides over the new year, but only time will tell whether Jaycee Chan will adopt the obedient, docile route, or a future defined by fieriness.

It was the action film superstar's son who posted the photos, so he does not seem embarrassed by his new look, and in his first micro-blog post since his Aug. 2014 arrest, the 32-year-old indicated that he is ready for substantial change. Underneath the haircut images, he wrote "congxin kaishi," which literally translates into English as "start from the heart."

Jaycee Chan's acting father launched his latest blockbuster feature production throughout the Asian region over the Spring Festival period and, even though he stated that he had made a decision to place his work before family at the Singapore stop, the natural smile on his face in the Weibo pictures conveys a father who seems pleased with his troubled son's rejuvenated outlook on life.

In Singapore, Chan called Jaycee a "little rascal," but also explained that he did not wish to "berate him further" after he was released from prison, as he was "sure he has done a lot of thinking this past half a year." At the time, Chan's forecast for 2015 was that the Year of the Goat was "shaping up to be a pretty good year."

After being sentenced to a six-month prison term last year, Jaycee Chan was released from jail in early February. On Feb. 14, he delivered an apology to the Chinese public for facilitating drug use, whereby he allowed people to use cannabis in his home.
