Popular HBO fiction series "Game of Thrones" has once again been declared as the most pirated show by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Guinness 2017 edition stated that the show has been winning the title for four consecutive years. The reports have indicated that the fiction drama has been downloaded 14.4 million times illegally. The figure has been provided on per episode basis.
The show, the Hindu Business Line reported, has also grabbed the title of being a TV series to win Most Emmy Awards in one season. Its fifth season managed to win a total of 12 awards. Even in 2016, the fiction show received a total of 23 nominations at the Emmys, which is the maximum number of recognitions that a TV show has received.
Where GoT is getting positive attention all across the globe, the show has been subject to an ongoing sexism debate. The critics have slammed the HBO fiction show saying it features huge violence against women. To this Sky's content managing director, Gary Davey, has declared all criticisms as "nonsense" and specified that no gender inequality is encouraged in the show and the male characters also undergo violence in the show.
"I think that's nonsense. There is also a lot of violence to men. For anybody who's watched the show, it can be a very violent show," Digital Spy quoted Davey as saying when the director was asked if Sansa Stark will be sexually assaulted by Ramsay Bolt on her wedding night.
The delay of "Game of Thrones" Season 7 came as a disappointment to the fans and followers. But the recognition that the show has been receiving continuously, first in the Emmy nominations and then in the Guinness Book of World Records, has been a reason to celebrate for them.
Season 7 is all set to hit the silver screen in Summer 2017 and with it the last countdown for the last season of the show will begin. There are reports that have confirmed that Season 8 of GoT will be the last season of the fiction.
