Samsung Galaxy S8 concept render shows new 4K screen

With the Samsung Galaxy S7 now being 6 months old, the tech world has started talking about the next Samsung flagship. Now, details of Samsung's upcoming plans with its Galaxy S8 have emerged, with one popular feature being a 12- and 13-megapixel dual-lens rear camera and an iris scanner.

Based on a Weibo tipster, the alleged dual lens camera feature will be adapted from Apple Inc.'s iPhone 7 Plus. Samsung will reportedly build the 12-megapixel rear camera and also use a 13-megapixel Sony camera in the Galaxy S8's dual-lens camera, which will allow for depth of field focusing for enhanced image quality.

The Weibo post also reported that the Galaxy S8 will get an upgrade to an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper, following the Galaxy S7's 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat.

According to Tech Times, the leakster also claims that the Galaxy S8 will be equipped with the same enhanced iris scanner Samsung initially introduced with Galaxy Note 7. Through the scanner, users are able to quickly unlock their Note 7 by simply staring at the display, which Samsung will surely enhance by adding new features once S8 is released.

Rumored specs circulating mobile market lead to Galaxy S8 sporting a 4K display, 3840 x 2160 pixel resolutions, compatible with Google Daydream. More so, Samsung also showed off an ultra-HD screen, 5.5 inch with 806 ppi pixel density at a tradeshow in California back in March.

Another rumor speculates that the Samsung's handset, S8 variant, will probably get Smart Glow feature - the LEDs circling the rear camera for notification alert, Tech Radar reported.

Also, if rumors are true, Samsung has been creating two models for each Galaxy S series. The Edge would be classified as the high-end device with bigger battery capacity and RAM space, or slightly different screen quality.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was unveiled at MWC 2016 so fans should anticipate a good chance that the Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge will be announced at next year's event. Several months from now, MWC 2017 is set to take place between Feb. 27 and March 2.
