"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 recently dropped a new teaser for its upcoming premiere episode.

In the clip, Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) could be seen injured and lying on a stretcher. His ex-date Maggie (Kelly McCreary) is shocked at the site of him. However, an even more shocking scene was between Alex (Justin Chambers) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). The former was extremely stressed over what happened to Andrew, and the latter convinced him to come clean. The teaser ended with Alex hitting his head on the hospital wall, seemingly indicating that Andrew may have died after the accident.

Following the release of the clip, fans couldn't help but weigh in on Alex's fate in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. One fan @Stacl wrote on TV Line, "God, Alex has such a bad temper, but I do love him. I feel like Justin Chambers is going to be amazing in this episode."

Another fan @Gary wrote, "After making Alex the most important person in Meredith's life, it would be extremely asinine to make him a murderer. That being said I do not see a way for him to come out unscathed from this which would make it a major plot point for this season (about damn time Karev had a decent storyline outside of Jo)."

Meanwhile, McCreary spoke with TV Guide last month to say that the new season will focus more on the original characters in the hit ABC series. Alex's major storyline seems to be one of his major storylines in season 13 other than his relationship woes with Jo (Camilla Luddington).

"After such a long period of time and so many new people coming in and out, they remain the foundational characters of the show. We're gonna be spending some more time with them to check in with where they are. The way that we spent time with Meredith last season, exploring the major shift in her life, the loss of Derek, I think we can expect to see those doctors being explored where they are in this moment, all these years, the changes that they've gone through," she said.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will premiere on ABC on Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET.
